Stop this scandalous show from returning to the Angelus Theatre in March!
😡 PLEASE SIGN THE PETITION! This outrageous "musical comedy" is returning to Utah for its 7th production, and it's time for concerned citizens to speak out. Set in the 1920s, "Bums!" callously glorifies counter-cultural delusions such as the tenability of quitting one's day job to pursue an improbable dream or the ridiculous idea that one can find fulfillment without material comforts.
Claiming to be appropriate for children, this controversial show has the audacity to reference alcohol consumption in spite of prohibition-era law and to depict obscene acts such as digging through garbage cans. Do you really want our youth thinking it's OK to eat half-eaten burgers or to learn 1920s obscenities such as "barneymugging"? Do you want them copying the examples of singing, dancing vagrants with questionable hygiene?
The reprehensible creator, Stephen Gashler, has a long history of corrupting the youth through his "award-winning" shows, such as "Valhalla | A Viking Rock Opera", which glorifies violence, "A Krampus Karol", featuring a demonic goat-man, "Gideon Versus the Gods of Cool," which promotes talking back to teachers, and "Take My Death Away | A Halloween Musical", which glorifies necromancy (expressly forbidden in Leviticus 19:26).
For the betterment of our downtown area and the safety of our children, please click on the following link to sign the petition to ban "Bums!" from returning to the Angelus Theatre in Spanish Fork this March: https://t.ly/KTPa-. PLEASE DO NOT CLICK ON THE "GET SHOWTIMES" BUTTON BELOW! Facebook and Instagram automatically add that button to this public service announcement. Let us stand united by not buying tickets (no matter how catchy the music or how tempting the opening night and group discounts).

Set just before the Great Depression, Edward, a daydreaming businessman, puts his career on the line to pursue his passion of music, but going against the grain brings on the resistance of his fiancĂ©e, his family, and the corporate world. Why won’t society just let him be a bum? Come for a good laugh and unforgettable music in this high-energy comedy featuring singing, dancing bums and jazzy hits such as “Half-Eaten Burger”, “The Corporate Gods”, and “Boring, Serious Businessman”.

"Who in their right mind would see a show called 'Bums'? I don't know if they mean the kind you sit on or the kind that lie around doing nothing and expect you pay them for it, but both are detestable. I need only quote a line from this terrible show coming to the Angelus Theatre in March to illustrate why moral people should unite in boycotting it: "If you search within your hearts, I believe you'll find that deep, down, each and every one of you is a bum." Ridiculous! Such an unfounded assertion is an insult to us productive members of society. Though if you support scandalous entertainment like this show, you are, in fact, a bum" (Beulah Brummel, President, Parental Safety Society).
